Closing Shop

First I moved web hosts and servers and now I’m moving domains from My Hush Space to Nispiros Portal. It’s gonna be a great start to a New Year! As of today I will not be posting on My Hush Space. I will reply to any comments, but my new home will be at Nispiros.com.
As far as My Hush Space is concerned I believe it has lived out its purpose. I guess with all good things there’s a beginning and an ending. There are only so many random thoughts that someone can have lol. I wanted more of a specific focus to give me motivation to write. Random posts was not the way to go, at least not for me.
My new site is more of catalog of day-to-day events as they relate to events in the news and/or my surroundings. You may not see a trend now, but it will be leading up to something more important. You’ll see.
For now I just wanted to say thanks to all that have visited and contributed to the fun here at My Hush Space. I’m still around I’ll just be somewhere else. I’ll keep this site open for the time being. At some point, however, I will automatically redirect this site to my new one.
I hope you’ll visit me there as well.
Thanks all and Happy New Year!
Server Move (again)
Posted on December 24, 2008, under Site Updates.
If my jury duty responsibility was not enough, I’ve been in the process of a server move from one web host to another, preparing for Christmas, and working at the same time. I guess stuff like this comes in three’s.
As soon as the Holidays are over, I’ll come by and visit all of you. Right now, I’m just trying to keep my head above water, lol. If I don’t talk to anyone of you soon, have a great Christmas and Happy New Year!
I apologize if any posts were lost in the process.
The Day The Earth Stood Still
I think this is how I felt after watching this movie. I wasn’t moved at all. In fact I was annoyed by the little boy’s character (Jaden Smith) who just talked too much and asked too many questions. I was thinking is this movie about this little boy Jacob who lost his father or is this the remake of the 1951 classic ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still“. I was confused.
Keanu Reeves did good, but there were parts that reminded me of his other movies like Matrix and Constantine.
Jennifer Connelly was convincing as a scientist and as the guardian of Jacob. I give the most credit for the movie since she showed the most diversity as an actor.
I normally like watching these kind of movies in the theater, but I think I should have waited for it on Blu-Ray.
Peace at last!

After fussing with my sites for the last day I have finally got it back to where it should be. If you haven’t noticed My Hush Space was slower than molasses. Of course I went to my web host for help, but that was more frustrating than anything else. I tried everything including disabling plugins, turning off scripts, etc. and it was a no-go until this morning.
I decided to upgrade to WordPress 2.7 RC1. This did the trick! I was already working with this new version on a new site, but I didn’t think it would make a difference with my existing sites.
Bottom line is that I’m back in the game and the site is running as fast as it should be. Peace at last!
As far as this new version of WordPress, I really like it! The admin interface looks completely different, but you get used it it right away. I like the new features and left side bar with all the options. Too bad it’s not on the right since I’m right handed, lol.
There is a cool new button on the upper right hand corner where you can choose to create a new post, new page, drafts, uploads, or comments. In the previous version there were only two buttons where you could choose between ‘new post’ or ‘new page’.
I upgraded sooner than I wanted because of my slowness issue, but I guess it was meant to be.
Back in the days
I am a little late for Wordless Wednesday, but this is my pick of the week. It’s a picture of me (red shirt) and my co-workers from many moons ago. The picture was taken in our old building in Foster City, CA.
4 of us are still with the company. The others have moved on.
By the looks of the picture it also looked liked happier times, lol.
Happy Thanksgiving 2008
The last six months has been crazy! Work has been hectic, weekends have been scheduled weeks in advance, and of course the stress of the elections and our economy goes without saying. I’m just thankful to get to this day without loosing my mind, lol.
When my last web host lost all my data I had to start over again. I lost my motivation in blogging. I had to rebuild everything. Not just here, but on my other 4 sites. It was a slow process, but eventually I got through it.
I have to thank the everyone that actually came back and continued to reply to my lame posts.
Because of you I’m back! Thank you!
Happy Thanksgiving All!

Black Friday
For as long as I could remember I have always been excited about Christmas. Yeah it’s cool that it’s Jesus’ birthday and all, but in these times it’s about the shopping. Sales galore! Next Friday also known as ‘Black Friday‘ the day after Thanksgiving Sale, will be crazy!
However, in these economic times it’s going to be hard to be excited about the sales. It will be more of a tease for those of us that can’t afford to go shipping this holiday. For others it will just be plain sad. I know people that have been laid off recently and I’m sure they are or will be going through tough times.
The stock market closed below the 8,000 mark this past week and I don’t see an end in sight. It could mean further lay offs at work. It could mean that General Motors won’t get their bailout if they don’t come up with a plan. It could mean further economic woes for our country.
All of a sudden my Christmas list went from Wii games to just having my health and my job. I also wish that my friends and previous co-workers find another job to hold them over through the Holidays and beyond.
Black Friday will have to wait another year . . .
Disco Ro!
Thanks to Brit over at Tweeter for providing the ElfYourself link. You can ‘Elf’ yourself with just a few clicks. Be sure to register so you can get the actual embedded code for your site. Otherwise you just get a generic Elf video of someone else.
In either case, it’s still pretty funny. Check me out!
Running for my life
Out of disgust I had to start exercising again. I wasn’t happy what I was starting to see in the mirror and decided I needed to do something about it. It started with daily walks at work. First half hour walks, then 40 minutes, and now close to an hour walk some days.
To supplement my walking I also exercise at the gym. I used the similar approach on the treadmill. First 3.5 miles per hour, then 4.5, then 5 and higher. After my run I work out with free weights and weight machines. I normally don’t spend more than a hour and half at the gym.
I have a tight schedule on the week days, but I always try to get in my work outs everyday day if possible. So far it’s been great! I’ve seen immediate results and I feel great! I supplement my diet with whey protein and other non-steroid type supplements just for extra strength and energy.
However, I do see a trend around 2PM PST everyday were I feel like I’m running on empty. I’ll have to figure out a way to sustain my physical and mental alertness during this time. I usually run out for coffee or Jamba Juice, which isn’t always the best or cheapest thing to do.
I am at the right weight for my height and body frame, but it could always be better, i.e. lower fat, lower BMI, higher muscle density, etc. My goal is not to be a body builder, but rather just to be healthy. Since I’m not 18 anymore I have to watch what I eat and be aware of my general health.
I’m at the age where I should be getting checkups regularly (and I do). I just don’t want any surprises. I don’t think I could handle any surprises, lol.
I would love to have the ability to eat smaller and more frequent meals through out the day, but it’s difficult doing that at work. I don’t think my eating habits are that disciplined just yet.
I can’t complain with my 2 lbs weight loss, lol. Now I just have to work on being healthy from in the inside out by lowering my cholestoral, high blood pressure, and stress levels.
Do you have any tips to share?
